Problem
When the directors of ARK Electrical approached Butt Miller in March 2016, the company was struggling to integrate the finances of its maintenance and contracting divisions.
Their existing accounting system lacked flexibility, and they found they were spending too much time on manual financial tasks, like chasing debtors and processing invoices. As a result, they were duplicating data, and unpaid invoices were being written off simply because they didn’t have the time or resources to follow them up.
The directors had considered outsourcing their accounts but were hesitant to move away from their existing system and accountants. Until one day, an impressive-looking invoice from another contractor caught their eye, which they quickly traced back to Butt Miller. Intrigued by the potential, they arranged a consultation with us to discuss their challenges.
Solution
After our initial meeting, the directors quickly saw the benefits of changing to Butt Miller. We conducted a thorough assessment of their financial processes and recommended that they move to Xero software.
We demonstrated how Xero could provide a seamless, real-time view of their finances that would integrate both sides of the business, automate tasks like bank reconciliation and provide timely invoice reminders. We also recommended a receipt management app to eliminate duplicated data entry and further reduce the time spent on admin.
Within a month, the company successfully moved away from their old system and implemented Xero. They were anticipating technical challenges but were pleasantly surprised at how seamless the transition was. They were able to continue operations without disruption, with close support from our team.
